A Great Bible Verse:
God loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him will not parish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16.)
I cherish this verse because it reminds me of God's great gift to us. He requires nothing in return. There are earthly rewards for earthly deeds, but the greatest gift reminds absolutely free. For more about this, check out the story of the rich man who asks Jesus the price of eternal life in Luke 8. At the end of the parable, Jesus clearly tells his deciples we "have every chance in the world" of eternal life if only we trust God to clean our sins for us. He also tells them that their sacrifice will be paid back in their lifetimes. We are ensured of heaven, if only we accept the gift.
The hard part, then is living the life. However, no matter how difficult it seems to live right, we all may rest assured since we are Given eternal life with no strings attached. That's how great God is. John 3:16 reminds us of that.
