Recent Events

Summer Fair

Summer Fair
The church Summer Fair on Saturday 18 July at the Medway Centre was a great success, building on our terrific efforts last year.

Lots of people turned out to enjoy a wide range of stalls, from books and bric-a-brac to jewellery and a chocolate fountain. The chance to 'Drench the Vicar' was predictably popular, but somehow the curate managed to escape this year ...

The final total raised was in the region of £1700 - thank you to everyone for all their hard work.

Carnival

Carnival
Mr and Mrs Noah spoke out after Bakewell Carnival:

We built an ark, we gathered an army of animals ... but where was the flood?

For the second year running, the Association of Bakewell Christians entered a float for the Carnival on Saturday 4 July. There was no sign of a flood or indeed any rain - the sun simply shone on the Carnival Parade!

Thank you to everyone who helped build the float and dressed up as Mr and Mrs Noah and their animals on the day. We won a 1st Prize for the second year running!

Ideas for a 2010 theme would be most welcome ...!

Well Blessing

Well Blessing
This year's well blessing took place on Sunday 28 June, when the town's well dressings were blessed by the Bakewell clergy on a scorching hot summer afternoon!

Many congratulations to everyone who took part in preparing the well dressings this year, especially the church Explorers. You really excelled yourselves - we can't wait to see what you come up with next year!
