April 7, 2007 - I just got back from Prague
Dear Friends, I just got back the other day from a fabulous vacay in Prague, jewel of Eastern Europe.  Let's just say I desperately needed the vacation, but didn't realize how much I needed it until I was actually there.  Unfortunately, it kind of got off to a bad start.  Due to a baggage handling breakdown in Copenhagen, I didn't get my luggage until midnight on the day of my arrival!  But c'est la vie; the hotel provided my traveling companion and me with shaving kits and toothbrushes for the luggage-less period.

Anyhoo, my friend, Sean, that I travelled with, has many, many friends in Prague and we spent Friday night hanging out with them in a bar called U Midvidku or something like that.  Then we went to a crowded dance place called Aloha.  Now let me tell you, Czechs are the most beautiful people on earth!  Three of his friends, Gregor, Michael, and Natasha are models, who indulge in the profession while in school for extra money.  Lest you think they appear only in local publications, let me hasten to add that Gregor and Natasha have appeared in nationwide television commercials.  All of Sean's other Czech friends also look like models, even though they aren't.  However, there isn't a pretentious bone in any of their bodies; just the friendliest, down-to-earthiest group you could ever hope to meet.  In fact, when we all had dinner on Sunday night, Gregor and Natasha announced their engagement and said that Sean and I would be receiving invitations to the wedding!  Isn't that simply fabu?

I've pretty much decided now that next summer will be spent in Prague studying instead of in Sweden.  I found a program that looks pretty decent and sent the web link to Gregor and Michael to take a look at.  I had already found the program before I went to Prague, and Gregor had told me that if I didn't want to stay in the school's dorm, he and Natasha would help me find an apartment.

On Sunday morning Michael came to pick us up with his friends Yuri and Lena; two more gorgeous people.  They drove us out to the countryside where we visited the Konepusy caverns.  After that we had a traditional Czech lunch outside at a restaurant where a gang of motorcycle riders had gathered for a break.  Then we went to Karlstein Castle for a tour.  After that, Yuri and Lena drove us to Gregor and Natasha's where Natasha had prepared tiramisu for us.  Just such a great time!  When we finally had to say good-bye to all of them and were back in the hotel room, I thought Sean was going to break down and cry.  I have to admit that as I lay in bed, I had a few hot tears rolling down my cheeks.

Several days ago at work, one of my colleagues asked me how many countries I had visited.  If you count the various parts of the U.K. and the Bahamas as separate countries, then I've visited 19.  Would you like to know which ones they are, dear friends?  Well even if you don't, here they are:  Canada, the Bahamas, Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Belgium, France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, England, Scotland, and Luxembourg.  Faaabulous, n'est-ce pas?
