It was early in November,
The date I can't remember
I was busting up my earnings in a little western town,
My head begin to flutter
I laid down in the gutter
  And a pig came up beside me, and he also too laid down,
Now my head was aching madly and the pig looked at me sadly,
  And a woman passing by was heard to say,
You can tell a man that boozes by the company that he chooses,
  And the pig got up and slowly walked away.

*************** I dreamed death came the other night
   and heaven gate swung wide
With kindly grace an angel fair
   Ushered me inside
And there to my astonishment
   Stood folks I'd known on earth
Some I'd judged and labelled
   As "unfit", of little worth
Indignant words rose to my lips
   But never were set free
For every face showed stunned surprize
   No-one expected me.

*************** Some time when your feeling important
Sometime when your ego's in bloom
Sometime when you take it for granted,
   You're the the most qualified one in the room
Sometime when you feel that your going,
   would leave an unfillable hole
Just follow this instruction,
   And see how it humbles your soul
Take a bucket and fill it with water
Place your hand in it up to the wrist
Take it out and the hole that's remaining
Is a measure of how you'll be missed.
