AP Stat Unit 2: Relations Between Two Variables

Chapter 3:  Linear Regression

Chapter 4:  Non-linear data

The central idea of this chapter is that we can describe the association between two variables in a simple mathematical function.  Scatterplots of the data collected are used to display the direction, form and strength of the relationship.  Regression analysis, principally the Least Squares Regression Line, can be used to quantify the relationship.  In Chapter 3, those relationships will be linear.  In Chapter 4, we will explore relationships that follow exponential or polynomial functions.  We will also look at the association between categorical (non-numeric) variables at the end of Chapter 4.
