14th Field Regiment Royal Artillery, the Royal School of Artillery Larkhill Salisbury Plains, now how can one describe this attachment apart from a nice cushy number.  My attachment to the RSA started in March of 1983, on reporting I was allocated a billet and paraded on Monday morning outside the Range Troop office with the rest of the troop, both Gunners and Pioneers, my first mistake was calling a Bombardier as Corporal, same thing but ever so slightly different.  The duties included setting up the ranges for the daily shoots, manning the veddettes both by day and by night when there was a night shoot on.  One episode that I recall was while I was manning a veddette during a night shoot when I heard knocking at the door, on checking this out a couple of long haired students were there asking about the noise and complaining about shells bursting around them, they were on a camping holiday and found this hollow and decided that they would camp there for the night, this hollow was slap bang in the middle of the impact area, a check fire was called while the students were escorted away from the danger area.  Quite a funny night really.

I finished my service here and I wish to thank 14th Field REgiment RA for allowing me the pleasure to be a part of their Regiment for 3 years, thank you one and all.
