John's influences include, but are not limited to: The Allman Brothers, Edwin McCain, Sister Hazel, Marvin Gaye, The Counting Crows, Warren Haynes, The Black Crowes and Keb Mo.

John is currently studying Afro-Cuban Rhythms with (World Renowned Percussionist) Pablo Batista. For over 15 years Pablo has performed and recorded with such artists as: Jeffery Osborne, Teddy Pendergrass, and Gerald Veasley to name a few. Presently, he is the percussionist for the five-time Grammy recipient, Alicia Keys.

John is currently working with a side project, named "WOLFE". They are an edgy, adventurous, boundary pushing quartet, which is fronted by Todd Wolfe, former lead guitar player as well as occasional song writing partner for A&M's multiple Grammy Winner, Sheryl Crow for 6 Years. "WOLFE" has shared the bill with the likes of Buddy Guy, Jimmy Vaughn, Derrick Trucks (Presently with The Allman Brothers), Dickey Betts (Formally with The Allman Brothers), Kenny Wayne Sheppard, The Allman Brothers, Black Crowes, Blues Traveler, Peter Frampton, Sonny Landreth, Mountain, Johnny Winter, Wishbone Ash, and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers to name a few.
