| K12. Integrated e-learning environment for children, enabling them to act as researchers. Wordprocessing, database, all kind of diagrams and drawing tools enabling children to do research and reflect on it. All Dutch schools were provided with this program between 1990 - 1994. Working as a projectmanager I learned a lot about children and their thinking; about computers, the handling of information and the problems of teachers working with constructivistic learning environments. |
| University/ School of Education In the project MILE (Multimedia Integrated Learning Environment) for language education we aim at the construction of an e-learning environment for pre-service education. In this e-learning environment students learn about the didactics of language education for primary schools. The environment is constructed in a hybrid way: each learning environment consists of a CD-ROM and an Internet environment. The CD-ROM contains the basic video, a database and tasks. The internet environment provides communication amongst all teacher training colleges by using a newsgroup. Students discuss in this group at a national level on themes rising from the CD-ROM. In an online community (blackboard is used for that purpose) teachers and students have further discussions, exchange products and adapt the program to their own needs.. There are four modules/environments available: Literacy engagement (1) Early intervention of literacy problems (2) Oral communication (3) Evaluating interactive language education (4) Research after the effects of these e-learning environments has been done supported by the Ververs foundation. As a projectmanager I learned a lot about learning environments, based on anchored instruction. The role of nationwide online communities in such a context is part of present research. |
