Our Dear School Comics issue #33 is a very important one to MC's history. It was the first release in over two years, and it was a crucial influence in John's decision to try one more time to produce comic books on a regular schedule. It was also the first MC Comic produced after the high school years (most of the MC team graduated in 1982 or 1983). For these reasons this issue is properly refered to as the first of the 'third series' titles, with Deadbeat Comics and Five To One soon to follow. And yet, a bridge to MC's increasingly nolstagic past is built in the style of issue #33, maintaining the felt-tip pen tradition and not departing from the story line of the previous issues. John and Scot did a fine job with Our Dear School Comics #33.
True MC fanatics might already know that another ODSC #33 had been prepared prior to this one, not long after the "last issue" #32. The cover art exsists, as does two pages of exquisite John Beers art, but that project was abandoned in August, 1981. It would be a while before John would be interested in drawing comic books again.
