The Cover ofOur Dear School Comics #29, January/February 1981

Almost as a sign of things to come for MC Comics in general, Our Dear School Comics had a sleepy summer run following it's greatest season ever. The return to school was portrayed in a bitter, stumbling pair of stories in #s 26 and 27, but Beers seemed to have aligned the comic back on direction beginning with the 'Moonraper' series originating with issue #28. Using one of his most successful devices, the story parodied the James Bond movie released at that time, along with the quasi-political presence of the anti-hero character 'Ronnie Ray-Gun'. The story line concludes with this issue; although not the last great school comic John or Scot would ever produce, this issue released after new years day 1981 seems to replicate that old, classic style beloved to fans of ODSC for one of the last times ever.
