Deadbeat Comics didn't simply vanish at the end of 1985, as attested by this cover and other art rendered for the unpublished issue #5, cover-dated March/April, 1986. "A Mage in the Thistle Brush" was ultimately chosen to run along with a new Testicle Twins feature, neither of which was completed by John Beers. The failure to get this book to print, however, signaled the death of this title, as well as the whole third series. Within a year, John and Scot would be reunited, even drawing (But mostly drinking) together again, but nothing else would follow to carry the legacy. Of course, the premise of this cover reflects the old joke, with the same art printed on both front and back.
