LEBANON ENTERPRISE
Died in Dallas, Texas
1923,05-25
William P. Fogle, former resident of Lebanon, who very recently died of apoplexy in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 71, is quite well remembered here, where he was born and reared, by many of the older citizens.  He was the second son of J. M. Fogle and Mary Davis, his wife, a Harrodsburg woman.  J. M. Fogle was a prominent member of the Lebanon bar at the time of his death some years ago.  His wife being already dead when he died, there survived him four children, two sons and two daughters, John Davis Fogle, the elder son, became a very prominent member of the Lebanon bar. William Fogle was not a lawyer having never studied for the profession. He was, however, a man of fine mental abilities and a most brilliant conversationalist, being well read.  The two girls both married.  Mary to James Grundy of Marion County and Bettie to H. M. Allen of Cincinnati. James Grundy and his wife went to Nashville, Tennessee to live and are now both dead having died without issue.  Mrs. Bettie Allen who resides in Dallas, Texas is the only immediate survivor of the J. M. Fogle family.  J. M. Fogle was a man of wealth and an accomplished and a learned man; all contributing to give prominence to the family and William Fogle reared in luxury and without a mother's care, she having died when he was quite young, his way of life was one that led to evil days.  A good many years ago Will Fogle's first wife, who was a Miss Allen, having died, Will moved to Dallas, Texas, where he married a second time, that wife preceding him to the grave also.  To those who knew Will Fogle here in Lebanon it will be a pleasure to them to learn that his last years were spent in doing good.  He became superintendent of a Sunday School and made it his special duty to lecture young men and upon every opportunity to talk to them of his own misspent life and to urge them to a manner of living that brings no regret.  This information comes from one who knew the Fogle family well in Lebanon and who has kept touch with survivors in the State of Texas.
