William Robert Fogle, 52

William Robert Fogle of Somerset, Kentucky, died at the Veteran's Hospital in Lexington on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1981.  He was 52 years old.
  He was born on June 21, 1929 at Yosemite to Berta and McDowell Fogle, both deceased.
  He was married to Donna Branaman of Bowling Green, Kentucky.  They have two children; Robert McDowell and Rosemary Carr.
  Other survivors include:  two brothers, Thomas Kenton of Richmond and Francis Gordon of Morehead; and five sisters, Roberta Settles of Somerset, Mary Louise Addison of Rome, Georgia, Catherine Cubert of Santa Barbara, Calif., LaNelle Clack of Albany, Calif., and Leona Buccierre of Oceanside.
  "Billy," as he was know to his family and friends, served three years in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Honor Guard in Washington, D.C. responsible for burials in Arlington National Cemetery.
  At one time, he was a Kentucky State Trooper assigned to security of the Governor's family and mansion.
  For four years, he worked for the Hughes Aircraft Corporation at their plants both in Santa Monica, California and Almagorda, New Mexico.

Mary Louise Fogle Addison

Mary Louise Fogle Addison died Thursday, April 21, 1988 in Rome, Ga.
She was a daughter of the late Berta and McDowell Fogle of Yosemite.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Byess of Rome, Ga. and Cheryl Enlow of Vero Beach, Fla.; a brother, Gordon Fogle of Morehead, Ky.; four sisters, Roberta Settles of Somerset, LaNelle Clack of Berkeley, Calif., and Catherine Lee Cubert of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Services and burial were in Rome, Ga.

Thomas Kenton Fogle, 53

   Thomas Kenton Fogle of Richmond, Ky., died Monday, July 22, 1985 at his home.  He was 53 years old.
   He was born on Dec. 27, 1932 at his parents' home near Yosemite.  He was the youngest of 10 children of the late McDowell and Berta Carr Fogle.  He was the father of Kurt and Kaye (Mrs. David Durham).  Their mother is Mrs. Patricia Stanton.
   "Tommy," as his family and friends knew him, served briefly in the United States Navy in the Pacific area following graduation from Middleburg High School.  Later, he entered Eastern Kentucky University receiving his bachelor of science degree with a major in agronomy.  He was an honor student.
   Funeral and burial services were held in Richmond on July 25.
   Friends and family members from Casey County, Danville, Somerset and Morehead were in attendance.  Three sisters residing in California were unable to attend, as well as one sister in Rome, Ga.
Judge Robert M. Short, 74 of Owensboro, died Friday, December 16, 2005 at his residence after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.  He was the 20th Judge of the Daviess Circuit Court and  at the time of his retirement had served longer than any other judge in the history of the Circuit Court in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Judge Short was born in Middleburg, Casey County, Kentucky, on August 19, 1931, the son of Lester and Martha Fogle Short.  He attended schools there graduating from high school in 1949.  He attended Western Kentucky University and received his Bachelor�s Degree from the University of Kentucky (UK) in 1954 and his Juris Doctor from the UK College of Law in 1956.  He then served four years as a Staff Judge Advocate with the U.S. Air Force, serving as a First Lieutenant in Okinawa, Japan.  In 1960 he moved to Owensboro to practice law with the firm of Humphreys, Jones, Short, and Wilson.  During his practice, he also served as Judge Pro Tem and Trial Commissioner of the Daviess Quarterly Court and was active in affairs of the local and state Bar Associations.  After being appointed to the Circuit Court bench in 1974, he graduated from the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada.  Throughout his career, he was known for his fairness and sharp wit in the courtroom.

Judge Short had a wide array of talents and interests and was an accomplished artist, astronomer, guitarist, historian and genealogist.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Betty Anne Schroer Short, his daughters and sons-in-law, Julie and Steve Taylor of Louisville, Sarah and Marty Walker of Owensboro, and Mary Kay and Kendall Weihe of Goshen, KY, his brother and sister-in-law, William L. and Betty Short of Shelbyville, KY, his grandchildren, Zach, Emily, and Josh Taylor of Louisville, Matthew, Anna, and Hadley Walker of Owensboro, Kate, Kelsey, Kendall, and Cecilia Weihe of Goshen; his great-grandchild, Miles Taylor of Louisville; and several aunts, nieces and nephews. 

Services are   2:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 20, 2005  at Glenn Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Cripps officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 696.  Visitation will be 3-8 P.M. Monday, December 19, 2005 and after 11 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
