Uyuni (10-11 Nov. 1999)

We saw Potosi again on the way to Uyuni. The road from Potosi was even more deserted than anything we had seen before. For example, the houses above were among the biggest villages on the way. Arriving in Uyuni in the evening offered an astounding sunset sky (see below).

The next morning we joined a three-day jeep tour from Uyuni to the Southwest corner of Bolivia. This tour is a must-see for any visitor of this region. The first grand site on the tour was the vast Salar de Uyuni, the biggest salt lake in the world. Anna (below to the right) enjoyed the views of the salar and the huge cacti on Isla de Pesca, the "island" located in the middle of the Salar.
