BACK TO OVERVIEW
Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego (1-2 Jan. 2000)
The happy new years celebration faded away as soon as the new millenium had been entered. All of us except Eyal were to tired to rave. In some ways this was good because then Anna and I managed to get up and take the bus to the national park half pas three in the afternoon. We visited the 'End of the World', which wasnt' as exciting as you would imagine. The weather was great, though, and the walk along the lake was peaceful (see below). We soon turned off towards the mountain Cerro Guanaco.
After having followed a path through the dense forest we reached the bare mountain where I highly appreciated the views of the snow-covered Cordillera Darwin to the west (see below).
Anna was a bit hungry when finally reaching the ridge. Nevertheless, she enjoyed the views of the southern horizon beyond the western cape of Isla Navarino (see below). Here we could really felt that we were at the end of the world. When we finally got back got back into the valley we watched a sea of stars in the darkness. Anna complained about never having seen a star fall... and oops, almost simultaneously she missed one right in fron of her! We fed ourselves with potato puree and champion sauce before tent time at 3 AM.
