The ferry left a dark Uruguay early at 5 AM on the 29th of January. After a beautiful sun rise the ferry reached Buenos Aires in day light. We stayed our last nights in South America in hotel Maip that was cheap for capital standards, but still the most expensive on our entire journey (incidently the first night was the second most expensive!). We had noticed during our last short stay in Buenos Aires how gigantic the city was. This time we had two days to see the centre in more detail. We saw the must-see places like the world's widest street, Avenida 9 Julio (see below), the obelisque and "La Casa Rosada". We enjoyed a couple of visits to various McDonalds restaurants. We also went to the movies to see something as strange as a Norwegian movie ('El Cartero Enamorado'). The combination of Norwegian speak and spanish subtitles was just enough to make us understand a word. |
