Parque Nacional de Alerce Andino (10-11 Dec. 1999)
On the bus to Puerto Montt we met the Australians Rob and Christy who we had met for the first time two days earlier on the bus to Cucao. Incidently, we would run across each other wherever we went for next couple of weeks. First we ended up in the same hotel. Then, the morning after, we got on the same bus towards yet another natural wonder, the national park Alerce Andino. The walk from the buses end destination, Correntoso, to the Sargazo lake was too long and non-scenic to really appreciate, spoiled as we were (the Calbuco volcano, right, was a scenic exception).
The early morning escape from the Sargazo lake where we had spent the night, taking us deeper into the national park, started to bit make a bit more of an impression. The dew covered grass at surise was awesome (see above).
