MITES

Make sure to remove all food items and have a good ventilation in the cage otherwise you can get mites in the cage. There are different types of mites and the worst kind are predatory mites. This type can easily kill a spiderling and indirectly kill a adult by clotting the booklungs, and the spider can die of stress.Mites can easily be found by feeding of cutted head mealworm to spiderling. It can be found sucking the juice out of the mealworm.

PARASITES

Wildcaught tarantulas got parasites on the inside and outside of the body. Some grows inside the spider and finally kills it host. Small white worms can sometimes be seen around the moutharea in WC spiders. not much to do except putting the spider in a clean cage and try to remove the worms on at the time with vaseline and a cottonstick

STARVATION

Should offcourse never happen. If a spider is left without food for too long, it can in extreme cases bite off a limb to feed on. This is very unusal phenomena in captivity, everyone who got spiders make sure to give them plently of food. Scientists have tested how long a tarantula can live without eating and was offered water. The longest period was 2years and 9months and 19days.

FOOD

ADULT
Food for adult tarantula can be any living animals that are smaller than it. Wild caught food are not advise as they can be poisonous or contain parasite. The best food for them is Crickets as they can be easilt bought from local petshop.

SPIDERLING
For spiderling, you can feed them with cutted head mealworm and pinhead(baby Cricket). Pinhead is recommended as one can watch how your spiderling hunts down a pinhead. Moving Prey can stimulate the appetite of spiderling. Cutted head mealworm can be feed to your spiderling too, but make sure to take out the leftover after the spiderling have it's meal. By feeding the spiderling with cutted head mealworm, one could not see how the spiderling hunt as they tend to suck the juice out only when it feels hungry. Some spiderling that feed cutted head mealworm may grew up afraid of it's prey as they might forgot the hunting instinct or may be afraid of moving object.
