| Thanks to the research of others, we have our Gillespie/Gillaspie/Gillaspy line going back to Robert Gillaspy, probably born in Northern Ireland about 1730. Our line continues through his son John Gillespie who moved his family from Botetourt County, VA to Braxton County, (W)VA. His wife was Comfort Griffith. Their son Adam Gillespie married Nancy Morrison, and they named one of their sons Orlando Griffith Gillespie, nicknamed Griffin. Griffin married twice, and our line is from the second wife, Harriet Shawver. Their oldest son was James H. Gillespie who married Amanda Pullins. And their son was Arthur Sylvester Gillespie, Eric's grandfather, who married Hester Viola Bragg. The Gillespies in our line, from Adam down through Arthur, were residents of Braxton County, WV. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
