Anglicanism--The Via Media
Anglicanism is an outgrowth historically of the Protestant Reformation of the 16th Century.  However the worldwide Anglican Communion is not really Protestant in the way that term is generally understood.  They are also not really part of the Catholic Church as that term is generally understood.  They are truly a middle way between the two--a Via Media.

The Anglican Communion views itself as being part and parcel of the Catholic Tradition along with the Old Catholic Union of Utrecht, The Eastern Orthodox Church as well as various national churches of the East, and the Roman Catholic Church.  For more information on Catholicity and what it means, please click

Here is the tribute of my e-friend Serge to one aspect of the
Anglican tradition.  Here are two very good websites along similar lines, Affirming Catholicism and AngloCatholic Socialism.  Here are alsot he links to a very good Episcopal blog, Online Faith Discursus.  Here is also the website of the local Episcopal parish, where I go when not attending an Orthodox Church.

While the official position of the Anglican Communion on LGBT individuals is still up in the air, many are very welcoming and most of the others are not going to tell you to leave when you go there as long as you are polite and discreet.
