| Each full Moon occurring during an Astrological sign has a name. Aries Seed Moon Sowing season, symbol of the start of the New Year, time of the year is spring. Taurus Hare Moon The sacred animal was associated in Roman legends with spring time and fertility. Gemini Dyad Moon The Latin word for a pair, refers to the twin stars of the constellation of Castor and Pollux. Cancer Mead Moon During late June and most of July the meadows or meads were mowed for hay. June was also called the Honey Moon, the traditional time for making mead, or honey wine, it was also a more relaxed time of year when folks took advantage of the extra time and fine weather to get married. Pisces Chaste Moon The antiquated word for Pure, reflects the custom of greeting the new year with a clear soul, clean slate. Yule Moon When the full moon occurs during the period termed Yule-tide, a week long period beginning with the Winter Solstice. Blue Moon The second full moon when two occur in the same Astrological sign. |
