JASON'S OFFROAD CAR
STEERING & PEDAL ASSEMBLY
With any vehicle you build the steering and  pedal assembly have to be in the right position for comfort when your driving your trusty car. Jason used the pedal assembly from a vw passat the whole assembly comes out in one unit including the steering column 20 frome the scrapyard (see pic 21) if you use this setup make sure you get all the fixings and cables.Jason has modified the steering column from the passat and a vw 1303 to suit the vauxhall astra steering rack he is useing (see pic 3). A  front bulk head was made out of (4mm) thick steel plate with two brackets welded on either side and offset from the left hand side bracket a hole was made to accomadate the astra steering rack (see pic 23) this was bolted on and the bulk head was  positioned into place and welded. Another piece of steel plate was made so the modified vw passat  pedal assembly can be attached to it when that was done Jason sat in the car  (with the seat in)  to make sure the pedal assembly was in the right position with the modified steering column,  (" I'm not going to try to explian all the modifications to you we'll be here all bloody night with my one finger typing! you'll have to look at the photo's and work it out for your self it will be a lot easier for you in the long run")   when he was satisfied that plate was also welded to the frame.
