And of course, not to be forgotten, the font of all VW knowledge, one of the nicest guys on the planet today ,born during the Industrial Revolution but web literate, the Father of the vw racing single seater had a new piece of aluminium to fasten to his car each time pre race;after loading travel rug, flask etc his mind is still active enough not to forget this.
He did have his beautiful and impressionable young daughter with him to make sure he was well looked after ,but unfortunately she had to depart on Monday to go and do something youfs do apparently.
Sunday evening was spent reminiscing about the fun times we used to have, when life was less stressful,it was safe to walk the streets alone at night, there was the odd 16 year old virgin still about ,and a game of table football with a cherry tomato, or roasting Keith's
maracas over a white hot barbeque was entertainment enough and,of course, drinking to excess.
Bank Holiday Monday began for me with a grope, followed by a dump.Marvellous;there is a God. Competition was fierce, and even my car started nearly without incident.Marshalling was professional, the lights on Nige/'s little van worked, even if the 4 wheel drive idea had long since bitten the dust. Thanks to all those *Af!ee*eAe8 willing volunteers who took paying passengers out with them and helped to support much needed projects, such as if!f!i~e*i9A
rear
tyres for the club tow vehicle. The crowd were going wild.Gary was goint; higher even than Ru had been the previous evening, and the difference in times between all the drivers was as tiny as the chance of yours truly's car working properly for more than five minutes at a time.
Thanks also Ru and Bobbie for giving Dan the chance to show off with his chopper over lunch.

And the winner was GARY MARWOOD... Time:1min28.15secs BRAVO etc.Well done.Congratulations.We have a winner.

Obviously after one event I shall leave it to all you rocket scientists out there to work out the overall points table.Questions have been asked about how the class points table is to be worked out ...more in next months' issue, when Big Gruesome will have stopped rowing his boat long enough to work out a points system.
A big thank you to all those who helped in any way.I know it sounds like I go on about presenting a professional looking front at these shows, but having heard how impreesed the organiser of the UK 4x4 show in September was,I can assure people in the longer term we will all see benefits. It is in no way insteadof having a good time, acting the arse taking the p**s,or teaching phrases like "back door conquistador" (An ombre who wears a coco sombrero). It seems to me we are making more and more contacts around the place, and when it comes down to trying to organise things like Silverstone there is a little bit of who you know, not what you know.(Look at Keith's personal friendship with Ferdinand Porsche... never did him any harm)
Don't know about you guys, but I can't wait for the next one Ed.
