Morning dawned race day.How exciting!Six months in hibernation and preparation.Normal proceedure.Fix my car first .Scrutineering passed. All cars were properly inspected and I'm sure small faults were pointed out to drivers regarding their cars where necessary. Some of these will obviously be punishable by lifetime bans or public floggings;names and
details to be printed in forthcoming issues.Onto the track.Narrow,
stoney ,bumpy, tight and testing on cars suprisingly similar to the one I remembered from previous years at the same venue!
After Gravel Deacon had done what I normally do;namely break the car before the bird has had a go in it ,with Di's new toy there were one or two concerns about the track.Once most people had driven once around it times fell, and although not ideal,we made the best of it .On a positive note, the size of the assembled crowd was big there was more than one woman on that hill who was certainly not shy of pies.
There were some very nice pieces of kit knocking around as well,(sorry Anya, only kidding, grovel etc).Private Meekly had been confident before the start ,and no wonder ,having thoroughly tested his car over the close season (video evidence has come to light),and of course getting it safely onto the upper floor level at Bug Freeze.
Several thousand man-hours of vinyl cutting meant the NBC cars looked very Bernie Ecclestone, and Nicks use of a sensible paint colour made the previously'Nato fetishist car look a treat .
Having broken somebody elses',Gravel decided to take his own car out, to spectacular effect ,and ran it superbly well over both days. Rock Slag and the Jason von German ran the Baja consistently quickly;at times it was only the clearance off the ground that was the give away as to the identity of the driver .
The World's nicest racing driver was again nice, and ran strongly as the Notts lads proved how hard work over the Winter pays off .

Team Gilmorton's newest recruit,Stuart, took to it like a dung beetle to a huge piece of excrement ,like a poo pipe pirate to a poop chute,or indeed like Ady to a certain green colour of paint.A natural.
Big Dunc always struggles with his turbo terrific at a course of this type, but
credit where it's due,he still attends.A big thanks to Dunc for a superb job of scrutineering, and later keeping it running yes,my car still running at the end of a first day ,will miracles continue to happen.I doubt it,red mist is bound to descend at some point!
Proving it must be the ability of the driver and not just the machine Dan with the big Chopper ran No.99 quickly and consistently all weekend, with his co driver grinning broadly. And then of course, there was Gary M.Quick, high and reliable all bloody weekend.
A huge thanks must go to all those who marshalled and helped during both days, and of course to Nigel for making the weekend run smoothly and proving just how much vodka the human renal system can cope with in a two day period.
One big thing that is different this year is the introduction of a thug to control all course matters, complaints and whinges about all course matters etc. That big thing is AI, otherwise known as Big Gruesome, and I thank him for a superb job over the two days.
