 My 1991 USA visit

Me, outside the Copenhagen airport
- ready to take off...

My good friends Charles 'Charlie' Anthony and Dr. Judy Barbera, from Spartanburg SC, that I met on a rainy day in 'The Village'...in 1990 Judy, Donna and Hetty, visited me in Copenhagen.   I went by Greyhound Bus from NYC to Spartanburg, and stayed at Judy's house, hereafter Judy, Eric and I went to Mexico (Merida, Yucatan) for a week, and when returned, I stayed at Charlie's house for a couple of days - we went to 2 Grateful Dead shows... Hereafter I visited Donna and Hetty in Florida, and later saw the Danish-American Pahl-family in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where I was severly pampered...I finished my trip with a week of New York City - shopping 'Big Apple Manhattan' style...

Merida Airport, Yucatan, Mexico
- as seen from above...

More photos from Mexico here...!

Coming back to Spartanburg from Mexico,
I was Charlie's guest for awhile...I shared
bedroom with a farting constrictor snake...

Charlie is a genuine 'deadhead' - as soon as we
learned about the shows in Charlotte, we
decided to go...Thanks, Charlie, as that
got to be the only chance I had, before it
was simply too late...

The tickets from the Grateful Dead
shows of June 11/12-1991...
- Well alright - limited view, but
unlimited pleasure !

Next stop Florida, visiting Donna Cowan
and her family...Hetty Pap was visiting from
the Netherlands...The Cowan's were simply
the loveliest hosts, and I ate and I ate and
I ate - very real American style
gorgeous food...

After lovely days in Florida, I continued to
Kalamazoo, Michigan, visiting my dear old
friends Tove (rip) & Hans Pahl (rip) and their
daughter Anne Anderson...
I flew from Greenville SC over Cincinnati to
the provincial airport of Kalamazoo...

More photos from the area of the Great Lakes here...!

The flight from Cincinnati to Kalamazoo was the commuter-type 20 passenger sort of 'airplane'...finally having filled up the aircraft, we felt ready to take off...at this very moment, a young flight attendant entered, and announced over the microphone: 'Everybody out of the airplane...everybody out NOW - real fast !'  This is truly a moment, when you really wanna get away from that thing...BUT...the woman in front of me decided to panic, and got her bag-strap caught by the armrest from the flightseat, and instead of stepping a foot back, and release the strap, she decided to pull - and pull - and pull - and pull...I could have personally kicked this stupid person...and this was for real, as something electrical (Kapton-wiring ?) was on fire...After some delay, they found us another plane... - This was the most dramatic flight-experience, I've had - so far  (knock on wood)...

After a terrific visit in Kalamazoo, I jump
on  a Greyhound bus, and head for
New York - The Big Apple it-very-self...

See my photos from this New York visit here...!

After New York City it was getting towards the end of my USA visit, for this time.
I flew with Icelandair, and took the opportunity, to visit Iceland on my way back to Copenhagen...

Iceland is a strange place, with strong volcanic
and seismic activity...here is a geyser 'caught in
the act'...

This photo is from the 'Thingvellir' plain - what is
actuallyseen on this photo, is the gap, where the
American and the European teutonic plates meet,
and occasonally rub against each other...

I stayed only a couple of days on Iceland - very
interesting, but terribly expensive...

- and now I wanna go back home...

Fasten Your seatbelts - the airplane will land
in Copenhagen in a few minutes...this photo
is the 'Oeresund' -  a strait between Denmark
and Sweden...You see the Danish coast, app. from
Copenhagen up towards Elsinore (Helsingoer)
and the resort villages of Northern
Sealand (Nordsjaelland)...
