The Beautiful Grand Junction Area,
Surrounded by Breathtaking Wilderness
The Colorado National Monument, with its abundant breathtaking rosy spires and canyons of red sandstone cliffs, is the ideal place to contemplate incredible views that stretch as far as the eye can see. The Colorado National Monument is over 20,000 acres of the best scenery in the West. It rises 2,000 feet above the Grand Valley and has over 32 square miles of naturally sculptured sandstone rock formations. Hikers can explore the trails leading to beautiful overlooks or longer backcountry trails winding through the canyons or across the mesas. Campsites are on a first come first serving basis. Backcountry camping is permitted almost anyplace within the monument.  Also within minutes you'll find The famouse Kokopelli and other mountain biking trails and a lovely mountain community of Glade Park.  In the valley below lies Grand Junction and Fruita, Colorado, home to the Dinosaur Discovery Musem, Adobe Creeek Golf Course, whitewater rafting, hiking, camping, fishing, farming  and some of the best Mountain Biking in the world!
The Grand Mesa, with over 200 hundred lakes neatly arranged on top of the worlds largest flat-top mountain, is another example of the artistry of nature that has surrounded the Grand Valley and is a testament to the natural beauty one falls in love with.  Located 30 miles east of Grand Junction, the Mesa  provides year round recreation for tourists and outdoorsmen. Two  hundred stream fed lakes are well stocked with native  brook and rainbow trout. There's  an abundance of Colorado wildlife here to make this hunter's dream. Hunting for bear, deer and elk are permitted in season.   There's camping areas, hiking, biking, ATV and snowmobile trails scattered about the lush Pine and Aspen forests and the Powderhorn Ski area provides great Colorado Skiing with exceptional scenery!
The Bookcliff Range is home to the Wild Mustangs of Colorado. Mt. Garfield rises above Grand Junction and I-70 as it cuts across the northern boundary of the Grand Valley.  Here you can access the BLM lands where the wild horses of the Bookcliffs  make their home.   There's also hiking, hunting, and rock climbing.  In its shadow lies the world famous orchards of some of the nations finest peaches, apples, pears, cherries and the wineries of Palisade, Colorado, a quaint,  small, Colorado  town with a touch of sophistication.
Whatever the season, there will be lots of sunshine in Grand Junction.  Protected from the sever weather by plateaus and mesas that surround it,  the valley is kept lush and green by the Gunnison and Colorado Rivers which meet here.    Summer the sunny, dry days average in the upper 80's to mid 90's with comfortable nights in the 60's.  Winter brings snow in the valley but it normally melts quickly.  Temperatures range form the mid 30's to the upper 40's.  Spring and fall is a perfect time to enjoy the temperate mid 5o's to low 70's.

With all the beautiful scenery and lifestyle the Grand Valley has to offer, the people are what really make it a special place to live.  Strong schools, involved parents, and peaceful, quality neighborhoods are tributes to the people of the community.  I would love to tell you more about it.
