Poultry Artwork by Joan Martin

 

Joan Martin began painting in 1993 while working as a Registered Nurse  in Baton Rouge, La., to help relieve the stress of Cardiac Care Nursing.  In 1994 she joined the Pearl River County Art League in Mississippi after retiring as a nurse. A former President, and Vice President now currently assistant Secretary.  She works in oils,  acrylics and watercolor.

 Her favorite style is somewhere between realism and folk art.  She has had individual art showings as well as League showings and won multiple awards.  Two art Pieces were purchased by the William Carey College on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and several business have purchased and  are currently exhibiting Joan Martin's art. 


  Being a State Representative of  Mississippi for the Serama Poultry has inspired many paintings of the last four years. She has become known among the poultry show people for pet portraits and had commissions from New York, Florida, New Hampshire, California, Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina and Mississippi. 
 
In subjects other than poultry you will find a tiny hidden chicken but you have to look very closely. If you do not find it please look again.
