MANIPUR

Manipur the "Jewel of India" (We have to mention as much as possible because we gave a Gennius Record price for this title) is located at the North-Eastern border of India. Manipur extends between 23^o.80' and 25^o.68' North latitudes and 93^o.03' and 94^o.78' East longitudes. The State covers a total geographical area of 22327 sq. km of which about nine tenths constitute the hills surrounding and one tenths valley. It constitutes 0.7 percent of the Indian Union. It shares 352 km common International boundary with Myanmar to the South East and 502 km long border with the adjacent States of Nagaland on the North, Cashar district of Assam on the West and Mizoram on the South and the South-West.

Imphal, capital of the state of Manipur, is in eastern India. It is a small and beautiful picturesque city. Imphal lies in the valley of Manipur river and is surrounded by the northeastern hills and vast plains of India's. Imphal is also the state's cultural capital with lot's of traditional festivals and shows for Manipuri dances arranged here at regular intervals.  The inhabitants of these two divisions (hill and valley) have their own dialects, customs and costumes. The Imphal West District falls in the Category of Manipur valley region. It is a tiny plain at the centre of Manipur surrounded by Plains of other districts. Imphal City, the State Capital is the nodal functional centre of this District

The district enjoys comfortable temperature throughout the year; not very hot in summer and not very cold in winter. Over all the climatic condition of the district is salubriousness and monsoon tropical. The whole district is under the influence of the monsoons characterised by hot and humid rainy seasons during the summer, and cool and dry seasons during the winter. Temperature ranges from minimum of 0^o C to maximum of 36^oC.
