Youth
Famine Relief
When: This event is done in conjunction with World Vision.  We will observe the famine on  April 25 and 26.

What:
The 30 Hour Famine is many things.  It is a lock-in (the youth spend the night at the church).  It is an event to raise awareness of world hunger, and one of the ways in which we do that is to fast for 30 hours.  (If you have any concerns about this, please speak to a youth leader.)  It is a fundraiser for World Vision to fight hunger.

Fasting: We ask that youth eat a noon meal, and then begin fasting.  Youth are encouraged to drink lots of fluids, juices, and to eat popsicles (and if you could bring some, that would be great!).  Parents, if you have concerns about this, please feel free to contact Jeff, Mary, Kim or Steve.

Plans: At this point, plans include a movie on Friday, a service project (to assemble care packets for the Common Grounds service), Memorial service, Saturday fun activity, Communion and a meal at around 6:15.

What to bring:  pillow, sleeping bag, change of clothes, juice, popsicles, water -- and maybe extra to share?

Fundraising: Part of the youth effort in conjunction with the famine is to raise money to combat world hunger.  Youth received a packet concerning this on April 13.  Any effort is appreciated.  It would be wonderful if each youth could raise $30.
