| Jeffrey Ohl Scholarship -- Congratulations to Christine Yu who was awarded the Jeffrey Ohl Scholarship this past sunday! Chemistry Award -- Sam Shideler received an award for the Best First Year Chemistry Student from the Central Ohio Valley Section of the American Chemical Society, which was based on his performance in the SCORES competition. Matt's Poem -- Matt Shideler wrote a poem in response to an experience at Clarity. The poem was used as liturgy in JM's worship service on April 22. Read it at this link. SCORES Academic Competition held at Marshall Basic Physical Fitness Principles - Lauren McComas - 2nd place Dietetics - Lauren McComas - 1st place Feature Writing - Vinny Farrell - 3rd place Chemistry I - Sam Shideler - 1st place Cabell County Social Studies Fair - All of these contestants qualified for the State Social Studies Fair in May. Elementary Division : Economics - The Evolution of Money: Why does our money look the way it does? Will Frazier - 1st Place (Troop 20 or soon to be T-20) Middle School Division : Psychology - Therapeutic Effects of Music - Chandler Smith - 1st place (Troop 20) Sociology - Non-Lethal Weapons - Hollin Jenkins and Matt Shideler - 1st place (Hollin is in Troop 20) Regional Math Field Day - These contestants qualify for the State Math Field day competition on April 28 4th grade - Will Frazier - 1st place Senior High School - Sam Shideler - 1st place Golden Horseshoe Winners (WV history award) Matt Shideler Ashton Smith (Troop 20) These two will be "knighted" in Charleston on May 11 |
