| Rosalynn Swedish WB x Thoroughbred mare |

| Rosalynn is by a Swedish Warmblood stallion and out of a Thoroughbred mare. The stallion was not an approved breeding stallion but his sire was (see Rosalynn's grandsire, Laylock, here)... in any event this means Rosalynn is not registered but she has proven herself in the dressage arena where she was 2nd Level champion a few years back. She is 16.1 hands and 16 years old, dark chestnut with a snip and a couple white heels. My initial plan was to learn dressage on her the first year and breed her the next year. She has turned out to be a valuable lesson horse so she is currently teaching beginner to intermediate riders how to ride.. it's pretty funny when a student inadvertantly cues her to do shoulder in or an extended trot! To the right is a photo I took of her the day after she arrived. Isn't it perfect? Beautiful horse, white post and rail fence, lush pasture... too bad only about 10% of that green stuff is actual grass. This "pasture" accidentally filled up with chamomile weeds and needed to be reseeded. Rosalynn's stall is a double stall adjacent to Owen's paddock. | Despite her gentle nature, Rosalynn sometimes does a really good impression of a dragon! You can see her horns peeking out from behind her forelock. What you can't tell from the photo is that said horns are green and sparkly. Her dragon tail is a combination of a nifty french braid and metallic green pipe cleaners. Look closely at her front hooves and you can see that they are also metallic green with silver claws! Her wings may not look large enough to carry her 1300-pound weight into the air but dragons are, you know, magic and stuff so it all works out okay. Why is there steam hovering in the air around her? What else would you expect?! The steam that issues from her nostrils is evidence of the dragon fires that burn inside her! |
