The Project
Our project in South Africa in  cooperation with
The objective of the project is to give poor, intelligent Zulu children the opportunity to receive a good education at an affordable cost.

Poor children typically, although not exclusively, come from the rural areas around Eshowe, where the quality of schools is often low.  There are also poor families in the former black and coloured townships in Eshowe.

The project in Eshowe is run by a local team of volunteers, headed by sister Innocentia from the Holy Childhood Convent.  The project was set up in 2002 by an Anlgo-Belgian couple who were on a one-year trip around the world and met Sophie Vangheel on a Cunina evaluation visit in Sao Paulo earlier in their trip.  On their visit to Zululand in January 2002, they saw the needs of the rural Zulu children and decided to put together a project team.

In 2005 Cunina decided to build a home for Zulu AIDS orphans in Eshowe. The search for a suitable location and the raising of funds is currently taking place.
