Curriculum vitae

Since April, 2002, when I started the master program on Agricultural Management and Information Sciences, my research interest has been principally focused on the application and use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) as tools to support agricultural management. In this sense and taking into consideration the evident need of investigation on this field that exist in Honduras, especially on matters regarding land use, I undertook the challenge to carry out studies related to land use by means of the application of GIS and RS.

The first completed study is an analysis regarding land use change and its determinants. This study was carried out using Landsat TM and ETM+ satellite images of three different periods. A short version of the study can be found by accessing the next link:

Research 1: Analysis of Land Use Change and Determinant Factors Using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems. Based on one community of Honduras, C.A.

At the present, I am elaborating a research proposal through which I intend to carry out studies toward the evaluation of land use planning, newly based on the use of GIS and RS and taking into account biophysical aspects, as well as economic and social characteristics of the target area. A copy of this proposal can be found by accessing the next link:

Research Proposal: Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing-Based Agro-economic Land Use Suitability and Planning. A case study of one province of Honduras, C.A.
