Math for Proficiency is a math class that is designed to help patch the hole
is students' mathematical understanding. While the main goal may be to
prepare student for the PSSA test in mathematics, this is not the only
goal.
How are the goals met? In the class each student will work at their
own pace on concepts in which they are weak. Slowly the holes in their
understanding will be closed. This will help the student to do better on
the PSSA tests as well as in their regular math class.
Much of the time students will be working on computers. The computers
help in the area of motivation.
