Prayers for Seekers
Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door
and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in
secret will reward you. When you are praying, do not heave up empty
phrases . . . Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6: 6-8
The Prayer of Saint Francis
Lord make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, let me sow faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, let me sow light;
Where there is sadness, joy
O Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying to self that we are born to Life.
Call
for Help
I am here only to be truly helpful.
I am here to represent Him Who sent me.
I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do,
because He Who sent me will direct me.
I am content to be wherever He wishes,
knowing He goes there with me.
I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal.
The Lord's
Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
May your kingdom come,
may your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our wrongs
as we forgive to who have wronged us
And do not lead us into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom and the power and the glory are yours forever.
Buddha's
Prayer
May all beings be filled
with joy and peace.
The strong and the weak,
The subtle and the gross;
Seen and unseen,
Being or waiting to become:
May all be filled with lasting joy.
Let no one deceive another.
Let no one anywhere despise another.
Let no one, out of anger or resentment,
Wish suffering on another.
Just as a mother with her own life
Protects her only child from harm,
So within let grow
A boundless love for all creatures.
Let love flow outward through the
universe,
To its height, its depth, its breadth,
A limitless love, without hatred or enmity.
Standing or walking,
Sitting or lying down,
During all waking hours,
Be mindful of this way of living.
Letting go of fixed views,
Unattached to desires,
Having clarity of vision,
Heaven comes to earth.
Prayer
for Serenity
God, grant me the serenity.
To accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace;
taking this world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that you make all things right,
I surrender to your will;
So that I may be happy in this life and the next.
Prayers of
the Tao
[actually, it's just an excerpt from the Tao Te Ching]

What difference between yes and no?
What difference between success and failure?
Other people are excited,
as though they were at a parade.
I alone don't care,
I alone am expressionless,
like an infant before it can smile.
Other people have what they need;
I alone possess nothing.
I alone drift about,
like someone without a home.
I am like an idiot, my mind is so empty.
Other people are bright;
I alone am dark.
Other people are sharp;
I alone am dull.
Other people have a purpose;
I alone don't know.
I drift like a wave on the ocean,
I blow as aimless as the wind.
I am different from ordinary people.
I drink from the Great Mother's breasts.

I let go of the law,
and people become honest.
I let go of economics,
and people become prosperous.
I let go of religion,
and people become serene.
I let go of all desire for the common good,
and the good becomes common as grass.
Act without doing;
work without effort.
Think of the small as large
and the few as many.
Confront the difficult
while it is still easy;
accomplish the great task
by a series of small acts
I have no possessions.
The more I do for others,
the happier I am.
The more I give to others
the wealthier I am.
