2001 is proving to be quite interesting for me to say the least.
We started out the year with the discovery that Jo was pregnant with our third child! In January I traveled to northern Michigan
for a business meeting. Then in late February I went on an incredible
snowmobiling vacation to northern Ontario. We drove nearly 900 miles to
Cochrane, ON, where we began a 750 mile loop,
staying at a different hotel each night. We even got to park our sleds in
a heated garage in Hearst, ON! The snow was chest deep (if you
ventured off trail) and the thermometer hit 30 below zero one
morning. Needless to say I had a fantastic time. The first week
of May, Brian Shultz and I backpacked the West Rim Trail in Tioga
County. We parked at the southern end of the trail and hiked north
31 miles along the edge of Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon. The views
of the Pine Creek Gorge were awesome. We then paddled a canoe
18 miles back down through the gorge en route to our car. The
weather was perfect and we even saw a nesting bald eagle with babies.

On July 12, 2001 Alec, Bailey, Jo, and I flew to
Turks and Caicos for a weeklong
vacation at Mom and Dad's new condo. It was a REALLY nice
trip! I did some great snorkeling and the boys had fun in the
ocean and pool. Jo did her best to stay comfortable, even though
she was 7 months pregnant. In August I was once again traveling for
work. I flew to Georgia to visit a hydro power plant and within a
week I was on the Kenai peninsula of Alaska. That was a
trip I hope to make again some day. The scenery was utterly
breathtaking! Even though it rained almost the entire day and a
half that I was there, I was in complete awe! Click
