Text Box: When more than one lady is interested in claiming the same man, we have what we call Hero Competitions. In order to determine which lucky lady will get to be the lucky bride, a competition is held to determine which lady knows the most about the man in question.  These competitions (much like tournaments in the days of old, except now it is the women proving themselves worthy of the man--lol) are trivia contests of sorts -- the trivia coming from the book that said man was in. If he is in more than one book, the Ladies of MACC will determine which book the trivia will be from. Obviously whoever wins the contest WINS THE MAN!!!
Competition Rules
There will be three categories in the competition: Multiple Choice, True/False, and Short Answer/Fill In The Blank. Each category will have 7 questions.
Each competitor will be given 45 seconds to both read and answer the question. You may change your answer within the 45 second timeframe. However, NO answer can be changed or will be accepted after "TIME" has been posted by MACC.
For the Multiple Choice and True/False questions, your last answer is your final answer.
For example, if you answer: T F T (in a True/False question) before "TIME" is called, we will go with your last answer, T for ‘TRUE’.
For the Short Answer/Fill In The Blank questions, where the correct answer is more than one word, MACC will exercise discretion as regards to whether or not it is necessary for you to clarify your answer.
For example, if you are asked: "Judith McNaught is a _______ _______." and your answer is "wonderful writer.... author" - although we understand that you do not mean that she is a "writer author", and that you were changing "writer" to "author" - we may give you the opportunity to clarify your answer.
Your final answer is limited to the answers you had already posted within the 45 seconds. No new answers will be accepted.
Incorrect answers are incorrect, however, we will make allowances for typos and may give you the opportunity to clarify answers within typographical error parameters .
For example; We will accept 'peach' from 'pesch', but not 'peach' from 'peers'.
If you are asked for a clarification, please do so immediately
You must challenge a correct/incorrect ruling before the next question is posted. Failure to do so waives your right to a challenge or appeal. . MACC will halt the competition until a ruling is made. The MACC decision is final.
All the competitors are given the same set of questions. We do our best to make sure that the questions are straight-forward and not ambiguous. Please read the question CAREFULLY prior to answering as we will generally not suspend the 45- second time limit in order to respond to  any clarification requests/queries regarding a competition question.
Each of the questions in the True/False and Multiple Choice categories will be worth 4 points. Each question in the Short Answer/Fill in the Blank category will be worth 6 points. In this category, partial credit will be given for partially correct answers.
The contestant with the most points at the end of the competition wins the hero.
In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker questions will be conducted in sudden death rounds. A person is eliminated if she misses a tiebreaker question. If each contestant misses the same question, everyone will be reinstated and will advance to the next question, until only one person correctly answers a tiebreaker question.

One final note: During the competition, MACC relies on the honor system to govern the conduct of all Dreadnaughts. We know that some ladies put together study teams to help them study and prepare for the competition and we encourage everyone to get involved and help out fellow Dreadnaughts.
HOWEVER, please remember that although competitors may refer to their books and notes during the competition, each competitor is expected to rely solely on their own knowledge and ability when answering the questions.
The intent of claiming game competitions has always been: "The woman who knows the hero best, wins the right to his name."
