Welcome to the WWW home of the Descendants of Jacob & Susannah Walters Mauk, early settlers in the Grange, Perry Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. This site is the official website of the Mauk Family Reunion Association. The first Mauk reunion was held August 31, 1897 at the home of Isaac Mauk. In 1903 there was a notice in the Punxsutawney Spirit newspaper that a Reunion of the family of Jacob Mauk would be held the Last Sunday of August. In 1904 the following report appeared in the Punsutawney Spirit. |

|
Mauk Reunion "Thursday September 15 the descendents of Jacob Mauk, deceased, of near Sprankle Mills, and their friends to the number of about 500 assembled at the Ebenezer Church, the occasion being the second annual reunion of the Mauk family. As the weather was quite cool the church was secured and a pleasant day was experienced. After enjoying a bountiful dinner the day was spent in singing sacred-songs and renewing acquaintances. Amoung those present were Mrs. Thomas Reed of Grange and Mrs. Hiram Carrier of Summerville, the only living children of Jacob Mauk. Officers were elected for the ensusing year as follows: Isaac A. Carrier of Sumerville, Chairman; W. Lyman Mauk of Sprankle Mills, Secretary; Jacob C. Mauk of Sprankle Mills, Treasurer, Aaron Hopkins of Panic, Harry Mauk of Rochester Mills, and Hillis Lingenfelter of Sprankle Mills, committee on arrangements. The first thursday of September of 1905 was chosen as the date for the next reunion." |
||
| The article indicates this was the 2nd Reunion but the 1897 Reunion should be included in the count so it was actually the third. The Reunions continued to be held at the Ebenezer Church. In 1940 it was decided that the Mauk Reunion needed a constitution and By Laws. Harry Guy Mauk was appointed as chairman of the Committee and the Committees proposed constitution and By Laws was approved and adopted at the 1941 reunion. | ||

| Although the Reunion now meets at Camp Little Leo on the 4th Sunday of August, these two articles of the constitution clearly state both the purpose of the Reunion and of this Web Site. A reunion has been held every year since, with the exception of a couple of years during World War I. There has been much discussion through the years about the number of reunions that have been held. We feel that the number of the reunion is not important but the SPIRIT of the reunion is the purpose. So as we continue to learn about the family we will keep you updated on the information we have. Come back often and do join us at the next reunion. Check the reunion page for some great photos of last year's reunion and the date of the next reunion. | ||
| Officers for the reunion are: M. JoAnne Shively, President; Joanne Polito, Vice President; Thomas Shively, Treasurer; Marlene Wobser, Secretary, M. Joanne Shively, Historian, June Parchman, Webmaster. |
