| The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman |

| I really liked this story, which is rare from my past experiences of readings in high school. It's a great insight of the mind of an insane woman. It was written in the late 1800s, early 1900s, when insanity was widely misunderstood. I'm glad Perkins wrote it. She wrote from her own experiences and this story affected how women were seen shortly after it was published. I liked how it was written in journal format. It captures how scattered her thoughts were, and illustrates the pace of her deterioration. It was kind of funny how she incorporates little but significant details, like when the narrator notices the teeth marks on the bed post but doesn't realize that they're her own. It's very interesting how she sees the woman in the wallpaper, which I believe is herself. I think the purpose of putting the narrator in the room with that hideous wallpaper was a clever idea. Of all the places in the house, she was stuck in that room. It shows how inevitable the woman and the wallpaper are equal, as they end up destroying each other in the end. | ||||||||||||||
