The digital world is my passion. I began teaching myself HTML as a hobby in 1999 and then formally in high school, where my redesign of the GHS website won first place in the school's competition. My interest developed into a fulfilling career in 2005 when I joined a web team responsible for the development and daily maintenance of over 15 newspaper sites. Having since pursued freelance opportunities, I now desire to join company where I may continously participate in its growth.
My specialty is standards-compliant pure CSS (table-less) design, with clean, efficient code to promote better search engine indexing. My experience lays in CMS systems, search-engine optimization, and User Interface design. I am also adept at image manipulation and optimization and have been responsible for creating IAB standard web ads and promotional graphics.
For my previous employer, I was selected to lead a major redesign, focused on usability and interactivity, for implementation across a dozen daily newspaper websites. To update the sites for Web 2.0, I developed an XML based Flash video player and a dynamic JavaScript/CSS top story rotator. In addition, I am proficient with blogging and community systems, email newsletter campaigns, and web analytic software.
