2007 Colorado Vacation - page 2
Pikes Peak & Seven Falls
Once again, Pikes Peak did not disappoint.  We were treated to some breathtaking scenery as we traveled to the top of the peak on the Cog train.  We passed through some low lying clouds and as we were on top, we looked down on the tops of those very clouds. We also got to experience "GRAUPEL snow"..its also called soft hail or snow pellets.
to the right is what we were treated to upon entering the Seven Falls park... beautiful
George jokingly said he was going to climb the big set of stairs at Seven Falls... then when he saw an older guy bound down, that was it.. "If that guy in his 60's can do it.. I'm gonna do it".  Ouf course, none of us "young pups" wanted to try it.
You can follow his progress on the stairs by looking for his red t-shirt.  I tried to make it up to the eagle's nest via the mountain elevator, but didn't make it in time to catch him at the top...but I caught him on his way down.  There are 224 steps to the top.. WOW!!
here he is with his well deserved "Victory water"... next year its my turn to take the challenge.

in some places, you could see trees growing right out of the cliff face.
