The Privilege Management and Enforcement System: Help Page
Resources Users Monitor Delegate Troubleshoot Help

Welcome to the Privilege Management and Enforcement System (PMES) Web Site. As an authenticated administrator, you receive full administrative privileges, which grant access to the entire PMES site: the Resource Page, the Users Page, the Monitor Page, the Delegate Page, the Troubleshoot Page, and the Help Page (the current page). Although detailed system configuration is usually unnecessary, a “helper” file (also known as a “plug-in”) is required for this level of service.

Primary navigation of the PMES Web Site is accomplished via the system menu links at the top of main pages. For administrators, this comprises the “Resources,” “Users,” “Monitor,” “Delegate,” “Troubleshoot,” and “Help” links.

“Resources” Link – displays a list of “Available Resources” on the left side of the page, with a column of action buttons to the right of the list. The action buttons are as follows:

Download – clicking the button initiates a file download of the selected resource.

Upload – clicking the button initiates a file upload of the selected resource.

Replace – clicking the button initiates a file replacement of the selected resource with a locally selected resource.

Print – clicking the button initiates a hard-copy print of the selected resource.

“Users” Link – displays a list of current users, with the “Create” button at the bottom of the list for creating new users. If the button is clicked, the system displays a form with fields for user name and password, and a drop-down box for initial privilege level (user, admin, alternate admin). In the absence of system faults, a click on the “OK” button will then create a new system user.

“Monitor” Link – displays a list of current users and their current activities with suspicious activities flagged with either yellow or red (depending on threat level).

“Delegate” Link – displays a list of users eligible for delegation of administrative privileges. The administrator first selects either one or several users and then clicks the “OK” button.

“Troubleshoot” Link – displays a list of current system faults and a list of system advisories and warnings.

“Help” Link – displays this page.
