Jeanette was born in Brooklyn, New York and is a first generation Korean American. Her household was bilingual which stressed both Korean traditional values, and the American ideal of pursuing opportunity. At age 13, she was diagnosed with scoliosis, a curvature of the spine. To alleviate the progression of the debilitating condition, doctors performed surgery to insert a steel rod in her back.

She was an excellent student, and was accepted at the prestigious Bronx High School of Science, with the expectation of pursuing a conventional career, and eventually, college.

Jeanette began playing pool in 1989 at the age of 18. A friend mentioned that she should frequent a pool room which was becoming a popular hangout. She and other friends decided to go there and see what all the talk was about. When she walked in, she noticed some good players on the front table. She immediately liked what she saw.

When she began playing, she was instantly hooked. She began to play every day for a few hours, which quickly turned into 10 - 12 hours per day. She dove into all aspects of the game. She studied books on pool, befriended "old school" pool players, and began learning other pool games. She was driven by an incredible determination to being the very best player in the world.

In 1992 she qualified for her first pro event and finished 3rd. She turned pro in 1993 and in less than one year she moved into the top ten. In 1993 and 1994, she was the runner-up in the WPA World Championship events in Konigswinter, Germany and Chicago, IL. In 1994, ranked #8, Jeanette started the year with back to back victories at the "Baltimore Billiards Classic" and the "Kasson Twin Cities Classic."

Jeanette's spectacular performances earned her the #1 ranking position in 1995 - 1996. She has won fifteen WPBA Classic Tour titles and in 1994, she won the "U.S.Open Championship." She won the "ESPN Ultimate 9-Ball Challenge" in 1998 and the "Tournament of Champions" in 1999. She has been awarded "Player of the Year," in 1994, and "Sports Person of the Year" in 1998.

Jeanette has been featured on ESPN, Extra, MTV Sports, the New Vibe TV, Hard Copy, Fox Channel Sports, HBO's "Arli$$" and Crook and Chase. She has been featured in such publications as People, Glamour, USA Today, FACE, Cigar Aficionado, Sports Illustrated, SWING Magazine, to name a few.

Living with her back pain has enabled Jeanette to understand the importance of overcoming life's obstacles. In this regard, she is very active in charitable activities to help improve the lives of others. She is on the Board of Directors a Vice President of funding for Scoliosis Association, Inc., and is on the Board of Trustee for the Women's Sports Foundation. She has a signature line of games and products through Imperial International such as Virtual Pool 3 and the Black Widow's Guide to Killer Pool.
