WEEK 7 RECAP

Week 7 has come and gone in the Hockomock League. KING PHILIP passed a very stiff test, knocking off NORTH ATTLEBORO 28-20 at Community Field, as KP QB Brandon Howard passed for three scores and ran for a fourth. Rocketeer QB Joe Kummer ran for one score and threw for another. MANSFIELD rolled to a 43-0 win over CANTON at Alumni Field, as Hornet QB Nik Busharis fired three TD passes and Matt Schafer added two offensive TD's and an interception return for a TD, to go along with Shawn Doherty returning the second half kickoff for a 73 yard score. FOXBORO held off a very pesky SHARON squad, beating the Eagles 27-13 at Ahern Field. Luke Soccorso paced the Warrior attack, scoring twice. History was made in Easton, as Stoughton coach Greg Burke won his 100th career game, with STOUGHTON downing OLIVER AMES 33-13 at Muscato Stadium. Travis Demko scored two TD's and Will McNamara threw for 2 more to lead the Black Knights to their first win of the season. OA remains winless with the defeat. And, FRANKLIN had the non-league game, and they remained perfect, beating Taunton 42-14 at Pisini Field. Matt Carini paced the Panther attack with 3 TD's.

The action heats up again next week as King Philip heads to Mansfield for a colossal showdown with the Hornets, Franklin attempts to remain perfect as they travel to Stoughton, Sharon will play their first home game since opening day as they welcome North Attleboro to town; Foxboro will make their way to Easton to kick off against Oliver Ames; and Canton will travel to Taunton to participate in the non-league game of the week.

Here is a chart which determines when it is advisable to attempt a two-point conversion after a touchdown as opposed to a point-after kick. This information was provided through courtesy of Dave Redding, who runs the football website in Mansfield.
