In 1864 went to Otoe County, Nebraska. In 1867 went to Holt County, Missouri to Forbes, 25 miles northwest of St. Joe, Missouri and lived there until 1879. When Julia died in 1879 he went to Sumner County, Kansas near Anson and bought a farm and later another near Millerton, Kansas. In 1895 he sold out and went to the home of two of his sons near Caldwell, Kansas. In 1904 he lived at Claire, Grant County, Oklahoma.
