Jaicie watched her new dragon feed on the meat that had been brought for them.  She couldn't believe she had Impressed such a pretty dragon. Given, there were more striking colors, but of her group of friends, she had gotten one of the rarer color combinations.  She wasn't sure if she had seen any other dragons that were the cream-copper combo like her Kitanath.  But since hers was an FGPC clutch, most of her "siblings" or at least clutchmates were very rare colors.
Kitanath looked back at her for a moment, as she could tell that her new rider was thinking of her.
Of course I am special.  I chose you, didn't I? Then she went back to eating.
The comment confused Jaicie for a moment, but then she decided to think about it later.
Kitanath was hatched at Falas FGPC
As Kitanath grew, Jaicie noticed that she was almost as large as some of the gold hatchlings who hatched at the same time.  She certainly had the attitude of some of the more mature golds at Falas, acting like she was in charge, at least, in her small group of friends.  The only one she didn't try to boss around was the far more laid back gold-cream, Tenjurith.  Since the hatchlings were too young too fly forward, all of Jaicie's friends who had impressed in earlier clutches had stayed behind with their newly bonded friends, deciding to go forward once everyone was able.  If they didn't find somewhere else to go first, someplace they could start a new weyr.  Maybe.
While Kitanath lazed around the lake with brown-gold Ananith, and a few others, Jaicie spent most of her free time with B'tian, Ananith's rider.  They had been attracted to each other for several years, but wanted to take things slowly now, with young, impressionable dragon minds bonded to their own.  They just hoped that when the dragons were mature, Kitanath would allow Ananith to fly her.  But they weren't too concerned for the moment because the two dragons were far too young for that and didn't appear to think of it at all.
Jaicie? A stage whisper sounded through the girl's mind. Are you awake?
At the sleepily mumbled, "No...", the full voice continued,
Good!  You're awake.  I want to fly soon.
That comment shook Jaicie fully awake.  "What?!  What do you mean, you want to fly?  Are you sure you're ready?  Only a few of the other females from your clutch have flown, and they were smaller that you."  Jaicie started to worry that her growing feelings for B'tian were pushing her dragon.

Oh, stop worrying, Kitanath snorted.  You had nothing to do with whether I am ready to fly.  I heard that the FGPC is holding a frenzy and needs pairs to participate.  I want to help them out.  Besides, only the the golds take longer to fully mature, she sniffed.  I'm better than them.  I am ready now.  Anyway, I only want a small flight. She hesitated a moment, uncertain for the first time.  Is it okay? She looked hopefully at her rider.
Jaicie thought for a few minutes.  "I'd like more details please.  Where did you hear about this?  Are there any special reaquirements?  Just how small a flight are we talking?  All the frenzies I've heard of, have been large, with several males and females."  She paused.  "Did you have any males in mind for this flight?"  This last question was one she was almost dreading the answer to.  In the past couple months, she had seen several males competing for her attention, and she seemed to favor all of them over B'tian's Ananith.

I don't know all the details, that's your job.  I heard something about donating eggs.  It is the FGPC, after all.  I guess the want to alter some.  There was something about being gold sized, I'm not sure what. The dragoness looked at her rider for a moment before continuing.  I did have a certain male or two in mind, but I want a private flight.  I will talk to the males.  I don't want anyone else to know until it's over.  It will be a fun surprise for you.
Jaicie wasn't so sure, but she decided to allow it, and promised to get all the details for the frenzy.

Two mornings later, she woke to a frenzied need that she didn't immediately understand.  Then she realized that it was Kitanath, preparing to rise.  She frantically ordered the dragon to blood her kill, then cowered on her bed, wondering who's dragon Kitanath had chosen, which rider would soon be rushing to to her room.  She heard the rush of dragon wings, then footsteps aproaching her door.  She felt Kitanath take off, then heard her door close.  She looked up, and relief flooded her as she recognised the one man she truly wanted, and smiled as B'tian walked towards her.
