My intent for this website was to create a digital footprint for the North End Pizza Club. I wanted to give the restaurant a place where existing and new customers can find out of a little bit about the business and make an informed decision around visiting the establishment. The website formed out of an initial set of drawings that I had done outlining the rough look of each page after viewing many similar websites to what I was trying to craft.

For the over feel of the website I went with an off-white, almost brown textured background and a solid maroon navigation bar affixed across the top. I wanted the user to be able to enjoy a darker theme to the site as bright colored pages place a lot of strain on your eyes.

The homepage is designed to tell the user a little bit about the business itself as well as sell itself a bit with a collection of its accolades. The video of a pizza roasting in the oven is potentially make the view hungry before they progress onto the menu page.

Once the user makes their way to the menu page they are greeted with a photo of a delicious pizza placed perfectly to catch their eye but not be obtrusive. The image gives way to all of the topping options for a build your own pizza order but also contains the available specialty orders without breaking the flow of the page. As the user scrolls, they find the burger menu accompanied by an equally appealing burger picture tastefully placed. Finally, they finish the menu off with another image pertaining to the simple pasta menu. I tried to give this whole page balance by spacing things out cleaning and alternating sides for the images.

The drinks page is intended to be a clean, no-thrills experience displaying a well formatted table listing the available beers and some information about them. The table itself is styled in colors that are meant to be easy on the user’s eyes, dark but appropriate to the background colors.

Lastly the contact us section is easy to use and balanced element-wise. It contains fields for the user to enter their first and last name, their email address, select if they want to be contacted or not, tell the business what type of feedback they have via a dropdown list, and finally enter their feedback into a text box.

In the future I may clean the website up a bet and use it as a general demo piece. Ideally I’d like to add some custom graphics and some JavaScript to create cleaner, more seamless menus and elements. I’d also remove some of the elements required by the assignment that don’t necessarily make sense for this type of website. These are realistically all things I would have done given more times but I will most likely end up adding them in future updates.
