"Pennsylvania German Pioneers" by Strassburger and Hinkle, page 660: "Frederick, Gerick, and Christafur Au arrived in Philadelphia on October 23, 1754 on board the ship "RECOVERY", Captain Amos Jones from Rotterdam and Cowes"

Christopher is thought to have moved to Virginia around 1768 from Pennsylvania and settled in the "Thorn Valley". Sims' Index to Land Grants in W. V. show that Christopher eye acquired three Grants on the "Black Thorn" for a total of 247 acres.

"Virginia Militia in the Revolutionary" by J.t. McAllister lists Christopher as a Pvt, under Captain Peter Hull, in the Cavlalry Troop, 2nd Battalion, Augusta Milita, fought in the Yorktown Campaign in 1779.

Deed Book 11, page 520, regarding Henry Eye states:
John and his wife Elizabeth joined his siblings, Elizabeth Propst, Henry Eye, George Eye and Christina Propst in a quit-claim deed to their father's lands. They sold this land to their step-father, John Miller in 1836.

John and Delilah are listed in the 1850 Pendleton Co Census in household #4

John served with the 62nd Virginia Mounted Infantry. He enlisted in Pendleton Co VA in 1862. Served under General Imboden.

Roger U. Delauter wrote about the 62nd VA Infantry, John is listed in his book as one of those that were captured and sent to Camp Chase, Ohio.

John and Delilah are both buried in the South Mineral Cemetery, Wyoming Twp

Obituary:

John Eye was born in West virginia, October 18th 1824. He died at home in Clay Township, March 14th, 1900. In 1849 he married Delia Propst. Ten children were born to them, nine of whom together with their mother, are still living. Mr Eye served as a soldier during the Civil War. In 1872 he came to Jones County, Iowa where he resided until his decease. Furneral services were held at South Mineral Church after which the remains were interred in the adjacent cemetery.

John and Carrie started their married life in Olin, Iowa. My Dad was one of 5 children born to John and Carrie. When my Dad was very small they moved to Illinois, where they lived in Washington, and then moved to Pekin. John and Carrie are both buried in Glendale Memorial Gardens - Pekin, Tazewell Co.
