Going Home Graph |
| |
We start our year in math by making a graph
showing how we go home. As each child adds his or her
picture to the graph they put on a nametag showing the
way they go home. |

Classroom Rules |
| |
To introduce the need for classroom rules
we read David Goes to School by David Shannon. After we
read the book we discuss rules for our classroom. I write
these in a notebook and condense them into 4-5 classroom
rules. The students each illustrate a page for a classroom
book entitled "David Goes to Carleston", which
shows David following our rules. |

Nametags |
| |
This year I am going to try something new.
Instead of a paper or sticker name tag I am going to make
name necklaces. I found these great letter
beads at Oriental Trading Company. They are over an
inch tall and I am going to use them to spell the students
name. I hope they will last all year, so we can use them
for substitutes and special events. |
