Crazy Stuff!
You see a lot of wierd stuff in this town and traveling around so we thought we'd share some of the strangeness with you. You must be 18 or older to view this page. Hehe. . .actually I guess you actually just have to have a sense of humor
Um. . .this guy juggles cats on a main road and has them do circus tricks. He is there every day. That cat in his hand is holding a stuffed animal. Need I say more?
Getting to know the locals in Monte Carlo. These two are oddly called "Adam and Eve". Kind of makes you wonder how the human race started from such humble beginnings. Maybe size doesn't matter?
The picture is a bit blurry since it was late at night but this is the view from our window on the 1st of December when we had a crazy rain storm all day and night. The streets were like rivers ready to be white-water rafted and many houses were flooded in Marseille.

Marseille has some really fun graffiti and it is all over the place. Couldn't resist these pictures but also couldn't help feeling like a tool taking them.

Speaking of graffiti. . .here is a collection of some that we found in Prague. Very interesting stuff. The graffiti above and right is part of an entire wall devoted to John Lennon. I guess they really like him there! It was pretty impressive and well done. Lots of layers and quotes and stuff.

Also in Prague. . .above left you can see t he most random sculpture I have ever seen which was planted in the middle of a park, and then below left is a statue of a man hanging on for dear life that hovers above your head when you walk down a Prague street. . .pretty unnerving! I swear there was a lot of beautiful art in Prague as well but after all, this is the "Crazy" page. You can check out the Prague page by clicking here to see the more picturesque stuff.
More craziness abroad. . .this time in Salzburg where we stopped off on our Eurail trip after hitting up Prague. Jeremy loved this chess set to the right. It was fun to see the players dramatically pick up their pieces and haul them over when making a power play. Hehe. . .somehow makes this game seem a lot more macho. And then below right is a picture of this humungous store that sells only eggs. Apparently it is a tradition in Austria for holidays to offer people egg shells (obviously with the insides blown out) that are elaborately decorated since they are a symbol of new life. Some of them were so fancy and hand made. I would have loved to take one home but I can't think of anything less likely to survive the backpack.
Okay so please allow me to explain. . .I decided it was time to get my hair trimmed and re-done since I hadn't touched it since our arrival in September and I had finally worked up the courage so our friend Colette and I went in search of a salon that seemed safe. Long story short, I went in for a trim and a touch up on my blonde highlights and came out with copper penny red streaks in my hair. Aaah! The good news is that I guess it is in fashion here, the bad news is that I am going to look like Christina Aguilera when I come home. Oh well, I've decided to work it and have since gotten used to it. It's all part of the adventure! (P.S. The picture on the right is intended to show off the big band of red they strategically placed in the front of my hair, NOT to display that zit.)
Ah Marseille Carnival (Mardi Gras). . .what a blast! You can see a whole page of pictures of this parade and festival by clicking here. There is also a really cool video Jeremy put together. Check it out by clicking here. This picture was a no brainer for the "Crazy" page. . .can you see why?

Hehe. . .this picture always makes me laugh. This statue is right next to our apartment on a square that is on our way to our schools. On nights when the bars and clubs are bumping, we often wake up the next morning and find that someone has put a traffic cone on this poor guy's head. I still don't know who the statue is of but he would probably be offended---hopefully he had a sense of humor.
How random is this? This store is located downtown and we just happened by it one day. I thought I was hallucinating (as I often do here) when I saw the sign out of the corner of my eye. Had to go in of course and it turns out that they sell a bunch of skate board and snowboard paraphenalia. I always thought no one knew about Michigan so this made me feel oddly proud.
I love this. Jeremy put it together as a going away present for Liz who just recently went home to New York (sniff sniff). Anyway it is the back cover of a cd we put together with pictures and videos of our adventures together. The main picture is of me, Liz, Colette, and Jeremy at Les Calanques. Click here to see pictures of this beautiful place just outside of Marseille. It was so windy we had to bundle despite the 60 degree weather! On the bottom are the funniest pictures we could find of us all. From left to right: Mike, me with a Desperados, Liz wearing her crown after finding the bean in the King's cake, Colette "crying" with the wind in her eyes, and Jeremy biting into a bratwurst in Cologne.
